On September 2, 2022, Brgy. Legaspi dela Rama became the first recipient of the Barangay Assistance Program of Pag-Ulikid- A Social Development Program of the First Lady Atty. Liza Araneta Marcos.
The Punong Barangay, respective key officials, and majority of the residents of the barangay warmly welcomed the First Lady through a program composed of singing and as well as a dinagyang dance presentation showcasing the hospitality of the Ilonggos. Brgy. Captain Sergio Espinosa gave the welcome remarks and was in a state of shock and disbelief as this was the first time that the First lady of the Republic of the Philippines ever visited their people.
The First Lady in turn gave a very short response of the warm welcome with her words “Let’s start the ball rolling”. These words marked the start of the distribution of goods to the recipients. The First Lady personally gave away her gifts- the children received school supplies for their academic needs, gift packs to Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) that include milk products and grocery items were also given.
The said barangay was chosen due to its diverse population and socio-economic standing. The young dependent population which include infants/babies, children and young adolescents/teenagers that make up an aggregate of 32.20% (321 pax). Citizens that are 15 up to 6 years old, the economically active population and actual or potential members of the work force, comprised a total of 62.39% (622 pax).
Finally, old dependent population consisting of the senior citizens, those aged 65 and over, total 5.42% (54 pax) in all.
